This is my story...
A long time ago, in a land far, far away.... We are talking actually about Chili, Southamerica, my mother land and the place where its supposed we have the best wines in the world, the most dry desert of the planet, the most beautiful green wild rainy forests and a long etc.
After that little description of where do I come from, let me introduce myself. My name is Eva Araos, a very creative graphic designer, illustrator, visual artist and a dreamer.
Let me tell you a little bit about my life... Since very little I knew I was born to create stories and adventures from the hand of my pencil and a piece of paper. I spent most of the day (apart of being a normal kid) drawing and creating stories for myself and for my friends. One of them recalls that I spoiled most of her school books with my drawing of flowers and animals. But I was not a good cartoonist, actually I was very bad at it but that didn't stop me to keep drawing what I saw and what I felt.
I remember that I loved watching cartoons and trying to copy what I saw from the tv, and then the 90's came and the magic of video games crossed in front of my eyes so apart of drawing, I spent most of my teenagers years playing video games and trying to figure out how to focus my dreams into the right direction. So when I had to choose what to study, I did not know what but I knew what I wanted, so I choose to study graphic design at the Duoc UC in Santiago de Chili. Then I switched to Digital Illustration and my life goals started to take some form, but it took me years and some detours on the road - I spent some years working in Web Design and the typical things that most young designers do to get some pennies (no, I was not selling drugs) but in some way I tried to keep my focus in creating and learning new things for fun, and I also spent 7 years working for the video games industry as a copywriter and making educative games for schools.
Since one day I arrived to the Netherlands with my dutch husband (yeah, there is a viking in this story!), and I had to start all over again. I really mean it. and I became a mother of a beautiful girl, and I started learning dutch, and getting used to eat frikandels and frites for dinner, to marvel myself with the unpredictable weather, to clean toilets as a first dutch job and sometimes to cry because I was missing my land so much. And in the meantime I keep writing and drawing stories and characters, and one day I realized that I should follow the dreams of my childhood and keep working in those tiny characters that I started creating so many years ago, and writing those stories that hopefully one day I can turn them into video games and maybe, animated films.
So this is the reason I created Looney Factory.
This is my tiny factory of crazy ideas. The cradle of my dreams and the factory of creation and magic, because the world deserves an extra bit of them.
In this portfolio I've excluded lot of my old work as a graphic designer, because I want to focus mainly in the things I'm currently working at: Videogames and cartoons.
One of those things is the "Looney Factory toons", a project that started more than 10 years ago as a gift for a friend. This project is in the process of becoming a comic strip and video games, and I'm still in the process of learning new techniques and things that will help me to achieve what I'm looking for.
I also work in some other techniques as hobbies -to improve my skills- such as ink drawing and digital painting (I got a lot of inspiration from the work of Gustave Doré and some other magnificent artist I've found in this path of self discovery and study).
So, this is it for now. Thanks so much for reading my bio and try to visit my site regularly for some updates of my projects!.
